Passing the entrance examination is a prerequisite for acceptance into the programme.
Information on deadlines for registration, portfolio delivery and entrance examinations can be obtained by contacting the Department Office.

Prerequisites for the entrance examination:
- Presentation of a portfolio of ca. 20 recent works (preferably studies from nature in pencil, chalk, charcoal, watercolour, etc.)
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Educational certificates/degrees (e.g. High School and other Diplomas, Apprenticeship Certificates, other academic degrees)
- Artistic and manual aptitude
- Overview knowledge of art history
- Basic knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics)
- Basic knowledge computer usage
- Spoken and written competence in German

Applicants are strongly urged to make an appointment as early as possible with one of the Institute staff members to discuss individual facets of the entrance examination and the curriculum.
