Angewandte at the Blickfang Design Fair
With works by alumni Pouran
Parvizi, Oliver Kuzma and David Hopp, the University of Applied Arts Vienna is presenting three contemporary artistic fashion
positions at the Blickfang Design Fair under the motto ‘Common Grounds’ (booth number 111), providing an insight into the
work of the fashion class.
in a world where oppositions seem to solidify into
unwavering ideologies, it is becoming increasingly difficult to trust your surroundings and even your own self …
how can we find our identity in a time where true values seem to get lost in the confusion of the never ending flow of information?
Values these days often get measured by numbers and ideas that have no foundation. It is imperative for us, as artists
and designers, to rebuild and rediscover these foundations and share them.
What do we, as designers value? How can we
celebrate and share this worth with others?
it would be naive to claim that we could heal the aches of society through
fashion alone. but we can use the medium as a tool and a mirror: we can project and translate our solutions into garments.
Here we aim to create a space where no matter who you are there is common ground for beauty, however you interpret it. This
is a space for conversation, a space where we can experience the world with our senses and, maybe, even find a moment to disconnect
from associations and preconceptions.
During our studies, we, Pouran Parvizi, Oliver Kuzma, and David Hopp, were
able to explore, create, and leave marks and memories - which now are able to be picked up, reshaped, and carried on …
David Hopp brings a philosophical approach to fashion, exploring how to use everyday garments as
platforms for artistic expression and as modes of change. His visual language and design processes are heavily influenced
by his sensitivity to nature, resulting from his upbringing in the mountainous region of Vorarlberg, and his previous work
in building construction with clay. David Hopp completed his diploma in Fashion Design under Craig Green at the University
of Applied Arts, Vienna in 2025.
Oliver Kuzma is a menswear label from Vienna focused on creating
wardrobes rather than collections. The idea of a holistic wardrobe prioritizing craftsmanship and longevity together with
functionality is at the core of every garment. This process creates a calm, sustainable approach to a fast paced burnt out
industry. Ultimately reconnecting to the roots of true luxury. A plan to add made-to-measure is going to be offered in the
near future.
Pouran Parvizi is a fashion designer with an interdisciplinary approach who views
fashion as a political and social medium. Her work explores what a garment can be in contemporary culture, deconstructing
silhouettes, materials, and narrative codes to create new forms of expression. By challenging conventions, she shifts boundaries
between clothing, concept, and context. Each collection becomes a space for critical reflection and unexpected encounters
with fashion’s role in society.
